lithograph, 16"x 21.5"
limited edition of 500, s/n
We see a spiral galaxy fleshed out with the appearance of a living cell or being, reminding us of the intimate connection between the cosmos and life. The very atoms in our bodies were fused in earlier generations of stars, exploded or wafted into space at the end of those stars lives, and then, some five billion years ago, recycled into a new star and planetary system which we call home....The spiral galaxy in the background contrasts with the sea shell in the foreground, each shows a characteristic spiral shape that seems to be a feature of nature at every scale. --Andrew Fraknoi , Cañada College, CA, 1987
And I have felt a presence that disturbs me with the joy of elevated thoughts; a sense sublime of something far more deeply interfused, whose dwelling is the light of setting suns, and the round ocean and the living air... --Wordsworth, 1798
